Haryana: The Shakti Natak Club, Ratia, staged a grand Ramleela at the Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Gurdwara Ground in Shakti Nagar, Ratia. On Sunday night, the second day of the event, the birth of Lord Shri Ram was enacted, drawing the audience into the devotional atmosphere.
The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Raju Karandi Wale, president of the Khatu Shyam Mandir Sewa Trust. Several prominent personalities attended the event, including Rohit Chugh, president of the Panchanand Memorial Committee; Vinod Doda; Sonu Mangla; Vinny Wadhwa; Dr Neeraj Kataria; Vicky Mehta; Somnath Lohe Wale; Raju Papreja, head of Maa Ki Rasoi; Tinku Dahuja; Ramesh Mehta; Raju Chugh; Shanty Gaba; and Pinchu Nagpal, among others. Shakti Natak Club president Rajesh Setia and other members honoured the guests with mementoes.
The second night’s performance depicted the events leading to the birth of Lord Shri Ram. The royal court of King Dashrath in Ayodhya was portrayed in all its grandeur, with ministers, courtiers and royal priest Guru Vashishtha seated alongside the king. Despite the prosperity of his kingdom and the love of his subjects, King Dashrath remained troubled by the absence of an heir.
Concerned about the future of his dynasty and kingdom, King Dashrath sought the advice of his family guru, Maharishi Vashishtha. The sage advised him to perform the Putrakameshti Yajna and invite Maharishi Rishyasringa to conduct the sacred ritual.
Following the king’s invitation, Maharishi Rishyasringa arrived in Ayodhya, where a grand yajna pavilion was erected on the banks of the Sarayu River. The Putrakameshti Yajna was performed according to religious rituals under Maharishi Rishyasringa’s guidance and Maharishi Vashishtha’s supervision.
At the conclusion of the yajna, Lord Agni, the god of fire, appeared from the sacred fire altar carrying a divine golden vessel containing celestial kheer (a sweet rice pudding). King Dashrath distributed the divine offering among his three queens. Subsequently, Lord Shri Ram, Bharat, Lakshman and Shatrughna were born.
The enactment beautifully presented this significant episode from the Ramayana, highlighting the devotion, faith and divine events associated with the birth of Lord Shri Ram.
